The Mayor’s Youth Council had a great day serving as pages at the Georgia Capitol today! They had the opportunity to meet many of the members of the General Assembly and watch as bills were passed through both the House and Senate.
Thank you to Senator Ben Watson, Representative Lehman Franklin, Representative Jesse Petrea, Representative Ron Stephens, Representative Bill Hitchens, Speaker Jon Burns, and Lt Gov Burt Jones for taking time out of your day to interact with these incredible young ladies from Bryan County High School.
We ended the afternoon touring Ponce City Market, a mixed-use redevelopment project in downtown. The building is the original Sears, Roebuck and Co building that originally opened in 1926 to shoppers of Atlanta and then eventually closed in 1979. They had a great time checking out the shops, restaurants and ending the evening at Skyline Park on the roof.
Thank you to our sponsors, Georgia Power and Owens Supply Company for making this trip possible. The Mayor’s Youth Council will be attending the Georgia Municipal Association/Georgia Cities Solutions 2025 Youth Summit with municipal councils from across Georgia this weekend here in Atlanta.
